White Is For Magic

I'm almost done with a book called White Is For Magic. It's an amazing book about a girl named Stacy dreams about the past and it becomes the future, and now she's about to figure out she has to die. But aside from all the drama that she has in her dreams, she has relation ship problems. Her boyfriend caught her almost kissing another boy. The next morning her mom comes for a vistit. She needed to sort things out with her boyfriend but she had to stay and talk with her mother, then to make things worse her mother takes her out to breakfast.

This part of the story was hard to read because I felt that way too when you really had to do something then you have to put it aside because someone got in your way. I just wanted to go inside the book and punch her mom then told her to go talk to her boyfriend. Even talking about it now just makes me shiver, this had to be the worst part of the book but its also the best part. I think the author wanted us to feel like that so we can step inside of Stacy's head and feel the way she's feeling.

All in all the author makes us feel a was for a reason. And the purpose of this event was to make us feel how the character was feeling.

White is For Magic

I so far love this book, its equally romantic and freaky. I'm up to the part when Stacey finds the tape in her room playing Miss Marry Mack. This part is really scary but I don’t like how her friends don’t believe her they’re her friends they’re suppose to believe or even pretend to believe her, that what friend sod instead they just say "I don’t believe you" then walk out of the room.

When your friends don’t believe you then nobody believes you. Her best friend Amber is the only friend that’s the closest to believing in her because he said, "I want to believe you but I just can't" that is the closest to a real friend she has. I know its sad but it's the best she's got, because her other friend is trying to steel her boyfriend back form Stacey. So if I where Stacey I would stay away from anyone who's not her friend because who ever is blackmailing ca be anyone even the people that she absolutely trusts.

You need real friends in your life and real friend don’t try to steel your boyfriends. That’s so mean and friend don’t do that, so it might take you a while to figure out who your real friends are, but you need to not be blind and break away from all the bad friends because they’re only going to lead you into the wrong direction, and your good friends will only lead you into one direction which is up towards your dreams.

White is for Magic

I've been reading a book called White Is For Magic, its a book about a girl named Stacey and she has these weird creams that tell her about the future, and someone just broke into the house. Who broke into he house deserves justice and justice hasn’t been served yet.

If justice were to be served it would be severed as punishment like usual. But justice has been served in a case, like her friend used to go out with this boy named Chad, when she left for a semester Stacey and Chad started to go out, when she came back she's been having feelings for him again. She already got justice in a way because Stacey gets to out with him.

Justice can be severed in many different ways, by revenge, law, punishment, and other things. But in this case Justice came naturally, sometimes if you some one does something mean to don’t do anything something will come to them that’s even worse.

The Puzzling World of Winston Breen

I've just finished reading a book called The Puzzling World of Winston Breen. Its a good book about a boy named Winston he loved puzzles a much as a dog loves his bone, and he bought his little sister a box for her birthday. Then his little sister found a secret compartment in the box. In the secret compartment he found 4 wooden strips with letters on it. Then he found out they belonged to Walter Fredericks (the guy who founded the town he lives in) and long ago Walter Fredericks hid a ring and he has to partner up with 3 other people who also had the puzzle pieces. At the end of the first day of ring finding they didn’t find anything, but then someone who they trusted broke into Winston's house and told him to find the ring, in the end he found the ring and the guy was thrown in jail. Winston had trusted the wrong people.

Winston and the group of treasure hunters put their trust into the wrong hands. They trusted a news reporter who was a girl named Brenda, and Zach Dilmer whose dad was friends with Walter Fredericks. According to Zach her name wasn’t even printed on the newspaper she so calls works for. That wasn’t the smartest thing to do because you know she could've been anyone which she was, but having an ex-cop in the group you would think would make them more aware of this stuff but he didn’t even know about that. They should've looked her up or something especially when it's about a really expensive ring.

Winston and the rest of the treasure-hunting group trusted the wrong people. They trusted Zach Dilmer; even though they had all the right to trust him they should know the nicest people are always not what they seem to be. Winston said it himself he should’ve been more observant because they envelopes weren’t old like the other ones. I would be very disappointed in Winston because he said to Brenda that he was the best puzzle solver in the group, well if your a good puzzle solver then why didn’t you notice that before? The puzzle-loving group should be more observant.

All in all Winston and the rest of the group where really being reckless during their hunt. Yeah I know they where excited but they also had to realize that they're looking for a priceless ring that costs a lot of money and a lot of people want that money. So if your ever doing something top secret keep it top secret. It doesn’t matter if it legal or illegal you need to keep it a secret. Like if your doing something against the law your not going to tell everyone on the street “hey I’m about to rob that jewelry store down the block” that’s not smart. So be smart and keep important things a secret.

The Puzzling World of Winston Breen Part 2

I have been reading and good book called The Puzzling World of Winston Breen I am up to the part where they just figured out the second puzzle and they’re one step closer to finding the ring that Walter Fredericks buried many years ago. The main plan of hiding the ring was to make all his kids work together and find the ring themselves, but that didn’t really work out. They all ended up keeping they’re puzzle pieces they got and hiding them until they all died.

I think that it's kind of wired that Walter Fredericks went through all that trouble to make his kids work together and find the ring. I have a feeling that the ring is their but it's not the ring they where looking for. I mean really why would expect his 18 year old children to work together after they've been fighting for the whole 18 years. I think that ring wasn't mint to be found at all.

Does Walter Fredericks seriously think that his kids would work together just for the ring, and also if it really is true about the ring being buried then how would he expect them to share it and that would turn into a whose other fight but this time it would turn legal or maybe fight to the death. Because if the siblings don’t communicate for 18 years the how don’t you expect them to fight for money. Either Walter Fredericks isn't the smartest person in the world or he didn’t think his thoughts all the way through.

If I was one of the siblings I would probably keep mine a secret, like they did, but I would secretly start becoming friends with each and everyone of them until we get the ring. Well that’s what I would do.

All in all Walter Frederick went though all of that trouble for just a bunch of people terrorizing the youngest sibling so she can give them her puzzle pieces. Walter Fredrick’s although rich but he wasn’t the smartest thinker.

"Children at War"

I recently finished an article called "Children at War" this article is mostly about the author (P.W. singer explaining who child soldiers are, and what countries thy comes from. in the beginning P.W. singer explains what a young boy says, " they killed my mother and father in front of my eyes. I was 10 years old. They took me with them." also they say how boys aren’t the only children taken they take girls too, but they're used for sexual abuse, and rape. These details support the main idea of child soldiers are abducted, are forced to be soldiers, and they also take the girls too.

The author of "Children at War" wants you feel discussed and shocked. The author does this by talking about girls and how they're used for sexual abuse, and mentioning the amount of kids that are child soldiers, which is 30,000. They also do this by telling you “captured al Qaeda training videos reveal young boys receiving instruction in the manufacture of bombs and the setting of explosive booby traps.” He also wrote “have recruited children as young as 13 to be suicide bombers and children as young as 11 to smuggle explosives and weapons” this makes people feel bad for the boys who have to do that.

This article made me feel shocked, but I can tell that it's been manipulated. It’s been manipulated because it tells you nothing about the other side, or the argument of the other side. I would like to know more and bout the other sides argument because they deserve a chance to explain them self’s.

The Puzzling World of Winston Breen Part 1

I just started a book called The Puzzling World of Winston Breen by Eric Berlin. So far it's a good book about a boy named Winston and he loves puzzles. But he discovers something surprising in his sisters birthday present he bought her its a puzzle, or so he thinks it ends up being a bigger puzzle that will help him find something big that was hidden many years ago. The main issue in this story is trust.

Winston can’t trust anybody anymore because they might just be using him to get the treasure. For example two men came up to Winston in one day and asked him to join their team and the 2nd guy told Winston that the other guy was laying, then the librarian who knows about the treasure told him not to trust any of them. Winston probably would trust the librarian because she's old and he was told that she doesn’t want the treasure, but it seems too obvious. As a puzzle lover Winston should know that the easy way is not always the right way. So if I where him I wouldn’t trust anyone then wait until I get some more evidence or even join all their teams then take all their puzzle pieces and take the money for myself. Trust is very good.

All in all you can’t trust anyone not even your best friends. So if you have something important and you cant tell anyone don’t tell anyone but people that you trust 100% and don’t trust anyone who comes up knows everything about you. Well you should never trust anyone you don’t know but they know you. So trust is something people earn don’t let anybody speed the process.

Secrets, Lies, and Algebra

"Secrets, Lies and, Algebra" by Wendy Litchman is an ok book about a girl named Tess and she loves math. But she has other problems out side of school but she tries to solve them with math but it doesn't turn out so good she finally figures out that not everything has a solution in life. In this story the main focus is assuming.

Tess assumes about a person committing a sue aside. Since Tess loves math so much she thinks everything needs a solution but sue asides don’t always have solutions. One day at dinner Tess' mom disuses that the day of the sue aside of the boss' wife her boss was acting really weird and he always change the subject every time they talk about his wife, then she says how she thinks he had something to do with the sue aside. After that she tells her friends about it and tries to tell the police, she even goes to her mom's boss' house to look at the "crime scene".  I know she's curious and everything but she's taking her mom's word for it and thinks that it's a murder then she goes around acting crazy about a murder. Tess should've just left it alone and just said what she thought about it then left it. But no she had to go off and look inside of her mom's boss' house for "clues".  She was way off on that assume, what really happened was a sue aside, she killed herself because her husband was out on a date with another person. Tess should’ve assumed stuff especially about stuff that serious.

Tess assumes about a test to. Her history teacher was giving her class a huge test and she thought these 3 kids who got 100% of cheating because they where all wearing the same drawings of a bracelet on their arm, and that the answers where written in code.  Tess is just being naive because she doesn’t like the boys that she thought were cheating. If the boys were going to sit there a study and memorize a secret code then they would be pretty stupid because they can be studying for a test instead. Studying a secret code is a lot harder then studying for a test. But Tess was write about one thing they were cheating but they stole a test and studied that and the bracelets are just wish bracelets. Tess jumps too conclusions way too fast. Just because the same 3 boys who got a 100% on their test are wear the same bracelet doesn’t preclude that they where cheating like that.

All in all Tess shouldn’t just assume like that because you might be going crazy for no reason. Didn’t her mom teach her the lesson about assuming? So you shouldn’t assume about anything something’s in life you just need to let go of if you don’t want the stress of it.

Am I Blue?

"Am I blue?" by Bruce Coville is an amazing story about a boy named Vincent who's getting bulled because people think he's gay. Then his fairy godfather Melvin came into his life and changed it forever. At first the thought of having a fairy godfather was kind of embarrassing never mind that he's gay. After Vincent found out how much him and Melvin had in common he wished for something, he wished that all gay people in the world would turn blue. The part that really changed his life wasn't the wish it was what the wish did to butch (person that was bulling him), it turned him blue. The main issue of this story is bulling because it has such an impact on Vincent and Melvin.

Bulling in this story is not just about Vincent it also happened to Melvis. Melvin died because of the bullies. He was just walking and a kid out of nowhere came up to him and pushed him into an alley, and smashed his head against a tire iron and died. Bulling in this story sad because a bulling killing a kid for being gay or even himself is just sad. After that Vincent really trusted Melvin because they're a like in some way. Bullying is very pathetic in this story.

Bulling can really ruin a kid’s life not physically but mentally. In the story Vincent doesn’t trust Melvin at the beginning because he thinks that he's trying to make fun of him or he's all apart of a practical joke. I’m not saying that it's naive of him because I would trust him. But to think that he's apart of a practical joke. The bulling really got into his head and now he can't trust anybody because he's scared that it all will back fire on him. Bulling can mess you up in the head.

The bulling in this story is very pathetic, especially in the beginning when butch called Vincent a fruit then thought him a lesson just for not looking at him, and then pushed him into a puddle. Well to me that is a little extreme for not looking at some one, if someone were not looking at me then I would probably yell at them to look at me, but never call them such an offensive name or push them into a puddle. I think I smell a little insecurity on butch. Butch is basically bulling Vincent for no reason, he bulling him because butch is probably ashamed of whom he really is. After Vincent turned everyone who was gay blue he wished that butch was already blue. So butch was bulling Vincent to get out his anger about being gay himself. Vincent kind-of saved Butch's life because without Vincent butch probably would've killed himself. Butch was basically treating Vincent like he would've treated him self. If butch told his feelings to a physiatrist before bullying someone just like him.

All in all Vincent and Melvin went threw a lot of bulling growing up. But before you look at the bullied you should look at the bullier. Butch should've bullied Vincent for the obvious and also because he is just like him. So before you judge or bully someone you should make sure you're perfect. For example if a person with a lot of acne make a joke about someone else's acne, that's just wrong. Before you make fun of someone you better be perfect first.

The Drummer Boy of Shiloh

"The Drummer Boy of Shiloh" by Ray Bradbury is an inspiring short story about a boy named Job who runs away to be a drummer boy during the civil war. The night before the battle of Shiloh Joby starts feeling like he should be here anymore. Then the general finds him crying the same night and gives him a speech about how he is important and he is apart of the army.

"The boy shut his eyes to hide inside himself". The general says, "Here's a soldier crying before the fight". The general realizes it's the drummer boy. The general kind-of knew it was the drummer boy who was crying but he asked if he was a soldier because he probably wanted to make Joby realize that he is important, and that he is apart of the army. Being in am army is like being in a family because they take care of each other. But they don't show their emotion because a man isn't suppose to show emotion in those days.

In the end Joby feels more important and he is apart of a family. The only reason he ran away from home because I think he wanted to help and/or he needed a family and they were there when he needed them. So at a really hard time anything can be a family if they take care of each other.

Money Hungry

Over the summer I read a book called Money Hungry by Sharon G. Flake. Money Hungry is about a girl named Raspberry she lives with her mother in the projects. She is obsessed with money, then one day her house gets robbed and her and her mother has nothing so they have to live on the streets again. So they move from each friend’s house to another sleeping there for a night. Until Raspberry and her mother go to odd job's house and Raspberry's mother surprises Raspberry by telling her she bought odd job's house from him.
Raspberry and her mother have a great relationship they are closer then most mothers and their children. But if you think about it they kind-of have to be close. They have to be close because they lived on the street together Raspberry found out how much she means to her mother. But if Raspberry and her mother weren't close then her mother would've given her up for adoption or to an orphanage a long time ago to save money. That would've been good because then Raspberry would've gone through all of that trouble she probably would've been adopted by a rich family and could have had what every she wanted. But that could also be bad because the one-day she would be curious about her birth mother then find out the hard way that she is poor and not like her. Then Raspberry could grow attached to her birth mother then her adopted parents could forbid her from every seeing her birth mother again. So any way is pretty bad.
Raspberry had a good relationship with her mother and that's a good thing because with out a mother or any parent you are force to grow up faster then you're supposing to. Like if a girl and her parents don't talk they never have dinner together then that girl has to make arrangements by her self. Like she has to tell herself to do her homework or make herself food at a very young age and that's not healthy. So don't take your parents for granted you need to talk to them. It’s better for you to know your parents then to not know them at all and remember they love you no matter what.
